  • We had the privilege of attending one of Karilyn's beginner clay hand building workshops at her beautiful studio and for many of our students it was the first time they had worked with this medium. Karilyn made them feel relaxed and guided them with easy to follow demonstrations and instructions, making them feel at ease with a new material and with a new kaiako. She encouraged our students to experiment and be creative during the process, whilst still being mindful of the correct technique to see success in their final product/s. Both students and staff really enjoyed the workshop and were buzzing after the experience, many planning on further projects working with clay. Karilyn was able to open their eyes to a new creative outlet, one that allowed them to slow down and express their individuality. We would definitely recommend her workshops and can't wait to work with her in the future.

    • I like trying new things, especially things to do with art, I love art and creating things. I found making stuff with clay really relaxing.

    • The clay-making experience was amazing! One of the best outings I have ever been to. Karilyn's instructions were easy to follow and remember and the outcome of all our creations were unique and beautiful. Not to mention I loved the fact it's in a secluded place therefore it was so peaceful and made the experience even better. I never thought clay making was so fun until I went! Definitely would go there again.

    • I really liked making the clay things, I didn’t think I would like it but I really enjoyed making weird and different creations out of clay and just interacting with my peers. A big thank you to Karilyn for teaching me a new skill, I appreciate your mahi and I would definitely love to come make some more clay stuff with you again.

    • I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts about our recent clay workshop. First and foremost, I absolutely love the vibrant colours that you provided for us to use, they really brought our pieces of art to life. The textures we could create with the tools on the surface were also really cool, adding a lot of depth and interest. It’s clear that you put a lot of thought and effort into this workshop. Lastly I want to say thank you for all your help and for making learning fun.

    • I loved the clay class because Karilyn took her time with each of us, really helping us with all the different techniques.

    • The clay course was amazing, it was cool to see what others came up with. Karilyn allowed everyone to go at their own pace and allow for creativity, not only in shaping the clay but also in colours and what was being made. Karilyn was patient and it was easy to understand what she wanted us to do.

    • My first experience with clay was awesome, the environment was lovely and was great to be in.  I am very appreciative for the opportunity we all had and will definitely like to go back again in the future!
